ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville women's volleyball team fell to the University of Central Florida and the University of Central Michigan in the first day of the UCF Challenge on Friday.
The Bulldogs faced UCF in the first match of the day, where the Knights ended Asheville's five-match win-streak. The Knights took the match in three sets (25-18, 25-20, 25-16).
In their last match of the day, Asheville took on against Central Michigan. The Chippewas defeated the Bulldogs (25-18, 25-19, 25-17) to close out day one.
NOTABLES
-In their match against UCF, The Bulldog offense was led by Ansley Rooks and Madison Vaughn with nine kills each. In their evening match against Central Michigan Cara Guthrie led the team with eight.
-Freshman setters Kailey Hackett and Carter Kennedy Combined for 55 total assists on day one.
-The Bulldogs were out-blocked by UCF (7-2) and Central Michigan (8-4).
-Asheville's defense was led by Shelby Erickson with 21 digs in two matches.
