Spartanburg, S.C. - The UNC Asheville women's soccer team will look to get in the victory column with a 7 p.m. matchup at Wofford College on Wednesday.

It will be the second game of a four-game road trip for Asheville.

GAME AT A GLANCE

This will be the third straight home opener for Asheville to open the season. Following their own home opener, the team traveled to The Citadel for their home opener. Now they will trek approximately 75 minutes to Wofford.

Wofford, which enters tomorrow's match at 0-2, lost 9-1 at Duke and 4-0 at Coastal Carolina to begin this season. Their lone goal was scored by sophomore forward/midfielder Hayley Younginer, and they are led by 17th year head coach Amy Kiah. They did, however, win their lone exhibition match, 2-1, over Big South member Winthrop.

Wofford is a member of the Southern Conference (SoCon).

The two teams last met in an exhibition last season when Asheville took home a 1-0 win. The last regular season matchup came on Aug. 29, 2014 when Wofford picked up a 3-2 win at Greenwood Field. Caroline Houser scored her first collegiate goal in that game.

Asheville is 5-6-1 all-time against Wofford. The two teams first met on Sept. 19, 1995 when Asheville won 3-0. Prior to meeting in last year's exhibition matchup, the two teams had met in six straight regular seasons, and Asheville was 2-4 in those games.

QUOTABLES

"Wofford is another opportunity for our program to come together and fight for 90 minutes," said UNC Asheville head women's soccer coach Michelle Demko. "They are a good possession team that can knock the ball and are very capable of scoring off a counter attack. Their record does not reflect their talent as they have played two very good teams opening weekend. Like us they are looking to put two halves of soccer together and gain some momentum on the season. It's going to be a good matchup. All these road games were scheduled to help strengthen our competitive mentality. Knowing this is the next component we need to keep pushing this program forward, having to compete on the road is only going to help us down the road."

UP NEXT

After Wednesday's matchup at Wofford, Asheville will continue its four-game road trip at Western Carolina this Friday at 7 p.m. before closing it out at UAB on Sept. 1.
