Asheville, N.C. - The UNC Asheville women's soccer team will look to bounce back from Friday's season-opening loss when they travel to The Citadel for a 1 p.m. matchup on Sunday.

While UNC Asheville is coming off a 2-0 loss to Tennessee Tech on Friday, tomorrow's match will represent the season opener for The Citadel, who went 1-1 in a pair of exhibition matches. One of those matches came against Big South member, Winthrop, who handed The Citadel a 2-1 loss.

GAME AT A GLANCE

In a matchup that features the Bulldogs vs the Bulldogs, The Citadel may rely on some younger players to lead them. They were led in the preseason by junior Tinslee Dilday and sophomore Katherine Arroyo, who each produced two goals. They also feature a freshman goalkeeper, Logan Leask, who played every minute of her team's two preseason games.

UNC Asheville handed The Citadel a 4-0 loss last year at Greenwood Field in the season opener. The turning point in that match was a three-goal outburst over a two minute and 41 second span in the second half. Sophomore Justine James scored twice in that match, while junior Courtney Naber and senior Paige Trent each also scored.

It will be the third ever matchup between the two teams.

The Citadel features just two seniors on its roster, Ilana Green and Montana Hinson. Nearly half of its roster is comprised of freshmen.

UNC Asheville junior Caroline Houser led her team with four total shots in the season-opener vs Tennessee Tech. Sophomore goalkeeper Madeline Getz made six saves, as well.

QUOTABLES

"We are a little familiar with The Citadel from playing them last year," said UNC Asheville head women's soccer coach Michelle Demko. "They have a new coach so they will have a new energy and outlook for their program. This is their opening game of the 2016 season at home, so they will come out with good intensity and emotion playing for a result. This is a good opportunity for us to be out of our comfort zone and adjust to obstacles on the road. I think these experiences will strengthen our mentality and help us down the road in season."

UP NEXT

Following tomorrow's battle of the Bulldogs, UNC Asheville will travel to Wofford College in Spartanburg, S.C. next Wednesday. They close out the road trip with matches against Western Carolina on Aug. 26 and UAB on Sept. 1.
