Santos Inks Seven-Member Volleyball Signing Class

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville head volleyball coach Frederico Santos has announced the addition of seven student-athletes as his 2016 signing class. The seven-member class is expected to come in and help fill the void for a Bulldog team that graduated five seniors off last season's roster.
“We are very excited about our 2016 signing class. These young ladies are very talented and hardworking individuals and we look forward to continuing their successful careers here at UNC Asheville,” Santos stated.
SIGNEES:
Hometown: Chatfield, Minnesota
Overview: Salisbury is a Three Rivers All-Conference athlete who has also been named an Academic All-Conference and Academic All-State selection. A principal's honor roll member, she is graduating with honors.
Hometown: McKinney, Texas
Overview: Kennedy is a two-time All-District player and a two year high school captain, and she reached the Texas High School State playoffs twice in the last three seasons. On the club level, she played on teams that qualified for nationals in both 2014 and 2016. In the classroom, she is a three-time Academic All-District selection and the secretary of the National Honors Society on campus.
Hometown: Lexington, Kentucky
Overview: Loveday has been named to both the All-City First and Second Teams and has also been named an All-State Academic First Team selection. A member of the National Honors Society, she was a four-year varsity letterman, was on the Under Armour Phenom List and was also named Tates Creek Commodore Student of the Month and Family Magazine student-athlete of the month in high school.
Hometown: Hickory, North Carolina
Overview: Rooks is a four-year varsity volleyball starter and was named conference Player of the Year as a freshman in 2012. A three-time All-Conference member, her high school team went undefeated in conference play over the last two seasons. As a club volleyball player, she was voted to the Carolina Region VBA All-Region team twice and also played in the USA Volleyball High Performance Championships. Rooks also played varsity basketball and soccer at Hickory, and was named a two-time All-Conference team member in both sports. In the classroom, she has received the AAA Scholar Athlete Award and is also a part of the Academic Honors Club and the National Honors Society.
Hometown: Frankfort, Illinois
Overview: Hackett has received the MVP and Coaches Awards during her high school career and has also been named to the Herald News All-Area team and has been a Southtown Honorable Mention player. She has also played club with 1st Alliance Volleyball Club for six years as a varsity starter. In the classroom, she is a member of the National Honor Society and has received the High Honor Roll Award, the Scholar-Athlete Award and the Mu Alpha Theta Mathematics Honor Award.
Hometown: Jackson, New Jersey
Overview: Gundling was named a second team All-Conference player as both a junior and a senior and also earned second team All-State laurels as a senior. Named the team MVP as a senior, she was a three-time defensive player of the year at her high school. In the classroom, she has been a High Honor Roll member for four years.
Hometown: Ocala, Florida
Overview: McMurrer was a three-year varsity member during her high school career and part of a volleyball program that made the state championship match during all three seasons. As a club player, she has played for Marion County Juniors/Ocala Power United for six years. In the classroom, McMurrer has been an honor roll member for four years.
