LYNCHBURG– The UNC Asheville Women's Tennis team fell 4-1 to No.3 Coastal Carolina in the Quarterfinal Round of the Big South Conference Championship Tournament on Saturday.
NOTABLES
-The Chanticleers outlasted the Bulldogs in doubles play to take the first point and open the match 1-0. Coastal delivered wins in flights one (6-2) and three (6-3) to send the match to singles play.
-Coastal took the first match in singles play (6-1,6-1) in flight four to go up 2-0 on Asheville.
-The Bulldogs responded with a singles win of their own in flight five from freshman Kylee Shipley. Shipley defeated Coastal's Sara Bonder 7-6, 6-4 to get Asheville back in the match.
-Despite a comeback effort from senior Lauren Brooker, CCU took the match on court three 6-3, 4-6, 6-0 to go up 3-1 on the Bulldogs.
-The Chants closed out the match with a 7-5, 7-5 victory in flight six leaving two Bulldogs in the middle of three-set matches by decision.
