Big South Announces Seedings for Men's and Women's Conference Tennis Championships

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Seedings for the men's and women's 2016 Big South Conference Tennis Championships were announced by the conference at the conclusion of the last regular-season matches over the weekend. The tournament will be held in Lynchburg, Virginia on April 13-18 hosted by the Flames of Liberty University.

The Men's tournament will kick off first, beginning Wednesday April 13 and running through Saturday the 16th.

 

The Bulldog men (6-2) earned a No. 3 seed and a bye for Wednesday's first round match. They will face the No.6 seeded Winthrop Eagles in the last of four quarterfinal matches on Thursday, April 14 at 2:00 p.m.

 

Presbyterian College just edged out the Bulldogs to receive the No. 2 seed.  Asheville and Presbyterian College both ended the season with an overall conferencec record of 6-2, but the Bulldogs lost the head-to-head tiebreaker to the Bluehose after falling to PC (4-3) at home during the regular season.

 

If the Bulldogs advance on Thursday, they will play the winner of No. 2 Presbyterian and No. 7 Campbell in a Semifinal match on Friday at 2:00 p.m.

 

The Women's Big South Conference Championships will begin on Friday April 15th and run through Monday, April 18.

 

Asheville's women's team received a No. 6 seed with a Big South Conference record of 4-5. They will face No.3 seeded Coastal Carolina in the last of four quarterfinal matches on Saturday April 16 at 3:00 p.m.

 

If the Bulldogs advance on Saturday they will play the winner of No. 2 Winthrop and the No. 7/10 winner in a Semifinal match on Sunday, April 17 at 3:00 p.m.
