ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville dropped a close, 4-3 matchup to visiting USC Upstate Saturday afternoon at the Asheville Racquet Club. The Bulldogs lost the doubles point but responded with three wins in singles play to come up just short in the comeback attempt.
NOTABLES
-The No. 2 doubles team of Josh Swindler and Henry Patten won their doubles match (6-3) over Upstate's Ramon Simonetti and Ignacio Garrido, but the Bulldogs fell in No. 1 doubles by a 6-3 score and had a 6-4 loss on court three in doubles action.
-In singles action, Henry Patten won (6-4, 6-4) on court two over Ankush Arora, Thomas Panoulas defeated Lenhard Haupt (4-6, 6-3, 6-4) in No. 3 action, and Josh Swindler won (6-1, 6-3) over Garrido on court four for Asheville's three victories.
-For Upstate, Simonetti grabbed a win (6-1, 6-3) over Alex Croker on court one, Matt Bennion defeated Reid Dillon (6-1, 6-1) in No. 5 action and Tomas Venere won over Colin Apt (7-5, 6-2) on court six.
