ASHEVILLE, N.C-- The UNC Asheville women's golf team finished their fall season placing fifth in the Big South Preview Tournament. This was the first year as a collegiate team for the Bulldogs.
Â
"Finishing the Big South Preview tournament with a team score of 304 was a proud coaching moment for me," said Coach Hall, "Everyone was cheering for each other and it was a total team effort."
Â
With a progressive season they played at tournaments hosted at William and Mary, Greensboro, Wofford, and Western Carolina. By the end of the season, at the Big South Preview Tournament they had a team score of 304 beating their previous team best by five strokes.
Â
"These ladies understand that building a legacy is hard work, but they have embraced the challenge. They are a wonderful group of young ladies who take pride in making this program successful," Coach Hall stated.
Â
Building the program from its roots the Bulldogs learned their strengths with dedication and practice at local golf courses, such as Cliffs at Walnut Cove, Biltmore Forest, Country Club of Asheville, Grove Park Inn, and Mountain Air. These courses provided different layouts, green speeds, and shot requirements that overall prepared the girls, according to Coach Hall.
Â
Going into the spring the lady Bulldogs are looking at focusing on their strengthens and conditioning program to be ready.
Â
"Our first tournament of the spring is February 20-21 at Amelia National hosted by Jacksonville University. This tournament always draws a tough field, so we need to work hard this off season to be ready for that caliber of competition," said Coach Hall.Â
