ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville women's volleyball team suffered a 3-1 loss to Big South Conference leader, Radford University on Saturday, October 1 in the Justice Center.
The Highlanders came out strong, taking the first set 25-16 behind a balanced attack featuring four Highlanders with four kills apiece.
Asheville battled back in set two, taking it 27-25 from the Highlanders who are undefeated in conference play at 5-0.
Radford would respond in sets three and four, closing out the match with 25-17, 25-20 victories to defeat the Bulldogs at home.
NOTABLES
-Radford's Maddie Palmer recorded a match-high 17 kills in their fifth consecutive conference victory.
- The Asheville offense was led by senior Madison Vaughn and sophomore Cara Guthrie with 13 kills apiece.
-Asheville setters Carter Kennedy (25) and Kailey Hackett (18) combined for 43 assists in the four-set match.
-Radford edged out Asheville at the net with nine blocks to the Bulldogs' eight.
