Asheville Collects First Conference Win at Gardner-Webb

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The UNC Asheville women's volleyball team picked up their first Big South Conference victory over Gardner-Webb University in a five-set thriller in Boiling Springs, N.C. on Tuesday night.
The Bulldogs started the match a set down after Gardner-Webb won set one 27-25. Asheville came back for a 25-15 victory in set two. Asheville and GWU traded sets in three and four with the Runnin' Bulldogs taking set three (25-23) and the Bulldogs taking set four (25-19).
In the fifth set, Asheville trailed Gardner-Webb at the break (8-7) before storming back to take the set and the match (15-9).
NOTABLES
-Shelby Erickson led the Bulldog offense with a season-best 18 kills.
-Madison Vaughn and Ansley Rooks with the most efficient attackers for Asheville with 12 kills of 28 attempts (.321).
-Madisen Zyburt anchored the Bulldog defense with 30 digs.
-Vaughn had the most blocks for Asheville with five (BA).
