ASHEVILLE, N.C. – Junior midfielder, Courtney Naber, helped propel the UNC Asheville women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over the Winthrop Eagles Wednesday night at Greenwood Field, in what was the Bulldogs' Senior Day.
Naber led the attack for the Bulldogs, attempting four of the 10 Asheville shots on the night. The midfielder scored the game-winner in the 57' on a free kick right outside of the box.
The Eagles pushed for a late equalizer but Asheville's defense held tight for the 1-0 shutout.
NOTABLES
-UNC Asheville compiled 10 shots throughout the match, five of which were on goal.
-Goalkeeper Keller Dixon tallied seven saves on the night.
-Bethany Spano and Paige Trent were both honored prior to the match for their last match at Greenwood Field as seniors.
