Asheville Swimming Honors Seniors in Dual Meet Victory

ASHEVILLE– The UNC Asheville Women's Swimming team defeated North Carolina A&T University in their last dual meet of the season before the Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association Championships on February 17-20.
Asheville honored their two seniors, Galen Broido and Alessandra Troncoso, in their last home meet in Justice Center Pool. They are the first two seniors to compete for Asheville for four years. The pair were recruited as the first incoming freshmen, and they are the only current swimmers who have been at Asheville since the program's start.
NOTABLES
-The Bulldog's took first place in the 400 Yard Medley Relay with a time of 4:04.91. Asheville's team was made up of Alejandra Sanchez, Alessandra Troncoso, Alexandra Van Dorsten and Morgan Rulevich.
-Asheville went one, two, three in the 100 Yard Backstroke. Emily Werth came in first place with a time of 1:00.62, Reid Jackson came in second with a time of 1:02.02 and Katie Brown placed third with a time of 1:03.71.
- The Bulldogs also took the first three places in the 100 Yard Breaststroke. Senior, Alessandra Troncosso, brought home a win with a time of 1:10.46. She was joined by her teammates Carly Emerson in second (1:13.51) and Emma Nelson in third (1:13.53).
- Morgan Rulevich collected a first place finish in the 50 Yard Freestyle, posting a time of 24.58, to push her individual win count to 13.
-Asheville swam the last five events of the competition as exhibition.
-The Bulldogs will go into the CCSA Championships with an overall record of 4-3, and conference record of 3-3. Asheville sits in sixth place out of ten teams in the conference. Last year, Asheville brought home a seventh place finish from the CCSA Championships.

We had the opportunity to honor our seniors, Alessandra and Galen, everyone got the chance to fine tune events for conference championships, and we were able to practice our race strategies. I am proud of everyone for supporting each other and really coming together as a team. ”
