Women's Soccer Set to Welcome Back Alumna

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville Athletic Department and the women's soccer program invite all Bulldog women's soccer alumni back to campus to help celebrate the 20-year reunion of the 1995 Big South Championship Team and the 10-year and nine-year celebrations of the 2005 and 2006 Regular Season Big South Championship teams.
All women's soccer alumni are encouraged to come back and cheer on the current Bulldogs on Saturday, September 19 when they take on USC Upstate at 7:00 p.m. under the lights at Greenwood Field. All soccer alumni and a guest will be admitted free and will be recognized at halftime. All former women's soccer players are encouraged to come down to the field near the seating area with five minutes remaining in the first half.
“Recognizing our alumni is important to our current process. Our players need to know and hear stories of those who came before us that put in hard work every day and set the soccer standard at UNC Asheville. Our current Bulldogs should know the history and tradition of this program because one day it will be their job to pass those stories and traditions down to new faces in our program,” head coach Michelle Demko stated.
“Every one of our players is proud to put the Bulldog jersey on but they should see our logo and read the words UNC Asheville and know they represent something greater than themselves. There is a history that should never stopped being told and that can only come from our connection with our outstanding alumna. I am honored to recognize them and have them forever be part of the Bulldog family.”
In addition to the Saturday game, there will also be a gathering at 6:30 pm on Friday, September 18 at the Twisted Laurel Downtown Asheville. Coach Demko will be there to talk Bulldog women's soccer with all in attendance.
