ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville women's swimming team begins its 2015-2016 campaign with the Blue & White Intersquad on Friday afternoon. The Bulldogs open their fourth season with the largest roster in the program's short history – 28 swimmers – as they prepare for the upcoming year.
NOTABLES
-Asheville's roster features 28 swimmers – their most ever – and nearly half are freshman. The 12-member freshmen class is the largest signing class in program history and gives the Bulldogs considerable depth.
-The Bulldogs' two seniors – Galen Broido and Alessandra Troncoso – will be the first two student-athletes to join Asheville as freshmen and compete through graduation.
-Today's meet is the first of five home meets this season for Asheville. The Bulldogs will have two meets in the fall semester (Oct. 9 and Nov. 7) and a pair of meets after the calendar turns over to 2016 (Jan. 6 and Jan. 30).
QUOTABLES
“The coaching staff is excited to see how the team has progressed since day one. We look forward to some fun racing and solid competition between the Blue & White.” - Head Coach Elizabeth Lykins
UP NEXT
- Following today's meet, the Bulldogs open the season at the All North Carolina Invitational on October 2 and 3 in Greensboro. They return home to host VMI on October 9.
