ASHEVILLE, N.C. – Incoming UNC Asheville freshman women's soccer player Jessica Dooley will report for fall practice next month with one final high school accolade – All-American.

The South Carolina native was one of 27 women's players from across the country announced as 2015 NSCAA High School Winter-Spring All-America selections today by The National Soccer Coaches Association of America. She becomes the first high school All-American in Bulldog women's soccer history.

A center midfielder out of Academic Magnet High School in Charleston, Dooley helped guide the Raptors to three consecutive South Carolina 2A State Championships. She scored over 100 goals in her high school career and is considered a playmaker on the field.

“This is a great day for our program and a great day for Jessica personally. She is both a champion and a leader on the field and in the classroom. To be honored as a high school All-American takes great commitment and dedication for years,” Bulldog head coach Michelle Demko stated.

“Jessica is relentless in her efforts to maintaining her competitive edge. This recognition is well deserved. Only 27 females were selected and she is in great company. I am proud of her work and know she will bring this type of championship mentality to our culture here at UNC Asheville.”

The NSCAA All-American recipients will be recognized and presented their award at the 2015 NSCAA High School All-America Brunch on August 1 at Lake Buena Vista Palace in Orlando.

Dooley plans on pursuing an engineering degree at Asheville. She and the rest of the women's soccer team kick off their season against The Citadel at home on August 21.
