ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville women's soccer team will have a pair of North Carolina East-West All-Star participants when they open the school year next month, as incoming freshmen Bella Iorio and Ellie Stone were each named to the 2015 women's soccer All-Star rosters.
Iorio, who graduated from Corinth Holders High School, is one of 16 players selected to represent the East All-Stars, while Stone, an Asheville High School graduate, is on the 16-player West All-Star roster. The East-West soccer game will be played on Tuesday night in Greensboro as part of the North Carolina East-West All-Star game week that will feature exhibitions in multiple sports.
“What great recognition for Bella and Ellie to receive for their hard work on the field. Both players are incredibly committed to putting time in to improve their game so they are always playing at their highest level while seeking to improve their skill set,” Bulldog head coach Michelle Demko stated. “This invitation to the East-West All-Star game is much deserved and I am happy our program will be represented both two classy people as well as great players.”
The soccer pair join incoming women's basketball player Kelli Fisher, who was selected to the West All-Star basketball roster.
The Bulldog freshmen and the rest of the women's team will open practice for their 2015-16 campaign on August 5, building towards the season opener on August 21 against The Citadel.
