ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville women's tennis team remained perfect on the young season with a 6-1 romp over mountain rival Western Carolina Saturday afternoon at the Asheville Racquet Club.
The Bulldogs (3-0) won the doubles point and then claimed five singles matches to earn their fourth straight win over the Catamounts (1-2).
Asheville won its five singles matches in straight sets. The Blue & White won all three doubles matches handily.
Lise Gregory's club won the doubles point by getting wins at #1 and #2 flights. The #1 flight of Ericka Rivero and Emily McNall won, 6-3. At #2, Christine Boisevain and Lauren Brooker won their match, 6-3. Hunter Hall and Amryn Soldier took their match by score of 6-2.
In singles play, Rivero won at #1 flight, 6-4, 6-3. McNall captured her match at #2 flight, 7-5, 6-3.
Soldier clinched the match with a 6-2, 6-2 win at #3 flight. The Bulldogs also won at #5 flight as freshman Amalie Davidsen won, 6-2, 6-3. Hall finished the match with a victory at #6 flight, 6-1, 6-3.
Asheville is in action again on Sunday when the Bulldogs host King University starting at Noon.
