Baseball Falls in Opener 16-9

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – Ohio scored 10 runs in the top of the ninth inning to break a tie as the Bobcats downed UNC Asheville 16-9 in the opening game of the 2015 season.
The Bulldogs led 5-0 after two innings but the Bobcats erupted for 13 runs in the last two innings to pick up the win.
Mitch Longo and Ty Black had three RBIs for Ohio.
Asheville got an inside the park home run from Kyle Carruthers to open the game. Justin Woods hit a three-homer in the ninth inning and drove in four runs for the Bulldogs.
Hunter Bryant had two hits and two RBIs for Asheville. Kyle Towles and Joe Tietjen also had two hits for the Blue & White.
Corey Randall started for the Bulldogs and pitched six strong innings, allowing five hits and three runs.
The teams will play a double-header on Saturday at 11:30 a.m.
