Women's Golf Announces First Signing Class

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville head coach Breanne Hall has announced the inaugural Bulldog women's golf signing class, as four student-athletes have signed their national letters of intent for the first Bulldog team that will begin play in the fall of 2016.
Kellen Alsip joins the Bulldog family from Cincinnati, OH; Rebecca Black is a native of Elizabethtown, KY; Linna Brooks comes to Asheville from Winter Garden, FL; and Erica Olderding is a native of West Des Moines, IA.
“I am extremely excited to have these four talented young women joining the Bulldog family next fall,” Hall stated. “Starting a program from scratch is not an easy task and I think that speaks volumes about the dedication and work ethic these ladies possess. I am honored to have them join me in building the culture and traditions that our Bulldog golf program will stand for.”
Kellen Alsip
Cincinnati, Ohio – Sycamore High School
Kellen is a four-year letter winner at Sycamore High School. During her senior year, she was medalist of the Greater Miami Conference (GMC), GMC Player of the Year, Southwest Ohio Sectional Champion, OHSAA Division 1 State Champion (large schools), and First Team All-State selection. During her high school career she was a two-time Conference Player of the Year and a three-time All-Greater Miami Conference selection. Kellen is the No. 7ranked player in the state of Ohio for the 2016 class according to Junior Golf Scoreboard. Kellen takes several AP classes while maintaining a 3.85 GPA and is the daughter of John and Karen Alsip.
Rebecca Black
Elizabethtown, Kentucky – Elizabethtown High School
Rebecca is a four-year letter winner and three-time team captain at Elizabethtown High School. She is a two-time All-State selection, the 2015 Regional Individual Champion, a four-time All-Region Team selection, and finished in the top 5 in five high school tournaments in 2015. Rebecca was the medalist at the AJGA Junior at Owensboro qualifier, finished 3rd at the Kentucky Jr. Girls Am, and is the No. 5 ranked player in the State of Kentucky for the 2016 class according to Golfweek. She is also a four-year letter winner on the soccer team at EHS where she received All-State 2nd Team in 2015. She is a three-time recipient of the KHSAA Academic All-State First Team with a 4.0 GPA and is the daughter of Patrick and Kim Black.
Linna Brooks
Winter Garden, Florida – West Orange High School
Linna is a four-year letter winner in which she received three Varsity letters at West Orange HS and one Varsity letter at Fleming Island HS. She is a four-time All-Conference selection and a three-time All-Metro selection. Linna finished in 3rd place at the Metro tournament and 2nd place in Districts. In 2014, she was the Metro Champion, selected to the Central Florida Team, and finished 12th at the State Tournament. She has qualified for the State tournament three years in a row. Also, she has carded multiple top 5 finishes competing on the Premier Jr. Tour and Top 50 Jr. Tour. Linna maintains a 4.8 weighted GPA and is the daughter of James and Lucinda Brooks.
Erica Olberding
West Des Moines, Iowa – Dowling High School
Erica is a four-year letter winner at Dowling Catholic High School. She and her teammates will be looking to defend their Class 5-A State title in the spring of 2016. Last season, Erica was the individual conference champion and was selected to the Central Iowa Conference First Team and All-State First Team. Also, she finished 6th in the qualifier at the AJGA Kansas City Junior and 4th in the qualifier at the IZOD AJGA Championship. She is a three-time Academic All-Conference selection. Erica maintains a 3.8 GPA and is the daughter of Peter Olberding and Lisa Holst.
