ROCK HILL, S.C. – The UNC Asheville volleyball team fell victim to a solid afternoon by Winthrop on the way to 3-0 defeat on Saturday in Big South Conference action. Despite the loss, the Bulldogs hold in fourth place in the conference standings as they battle for positioning in the Big South Championship with one weekend remaining in the regular season.
THE TURNING POINT
Winthrop came out in the opening set and connected for a .308 team attack percentage, while Asheville's best attack percentage was just .172, coming in the second set.
NOTABLES
-Chrissy Lakatos led the Bulldogs with eight kills in the loss. She added six digs, two block assists and one solo block to fill her stat line.
-Katie Davis passed out 14 assists, while Amanda Powers added 10 assists of her own. Davis also added a kill and four digs.
-The Bulldogs finished with 10 block assists as a team, while Winthrop finished with 12 team block assists.
-Asheville is now 17-29 against Winthrop since 1994.
