Volleyball Opens Weekend with Three Set Victory over Radford

RADFORD, VA – The first night of back-to-back matches in Virginia went the UNC Asheville volleyball team's way Friday, with the Bulldogs taking down Radford in straight sets to improve to 2-0 in Big South Conference action.
THE TURNING POINT
Despite not recording a single double-digit individual kill performance, eight different Bulldogs recorded kills and they tallied seven team blocks as Asheville finished with a .333 team hitting percentage over the three sets.
NOTABLES
-Cameron Pryor and Shelby Erickson led the attack with nine kills each, while Cara Guthrie added eight kills and Madison Vaughn notched six kills.
-Katie Davis passed out 18 assists while Amanda Powers finished with 17 assists over her own.
-Bryn Pfeiffer racked up a match-high 18 digs, while Cara Guthrie contributed 15 for the visitors.-Asheville's eight victories match the Bulldogs' 2014 win total (8-22 overall).
-The Bulldog victory snapped a seven-match losing streak to Radford, giving Asheville their first win in the series since 2011.
-The Bulldogs have now eclipsed last season's win total (8) with Friday night's victory, their ninth so far in 2015.
-Asheville has opened Big South Conference play 2-0 for the first time since the 2010 season.
-The Bulldogs are now 24-18 all-time against Radford.
