ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville women's soccer team returns to action this Sunday afternoon when the Bulldogs travel to Alabama A&M for a first-time meeting in a match that starts at 1 p.m. CST.
Asheville (4-3-0) has been off since last Sunday when the Bulldogs fell at home to Belmont, 2-1. The Bulldogs are unbeaten on the road this year at 2-0 and captured a 2-1 decision last Friday at Eastern Kentucky.
Alabama A&M is having a tough year so far and is winless at 0-6-0. However, Asheville coach Michelle Demko expects a strong match from A&M on Sunday.
"We are excited to get back on the road after an off week to play Alabama A&M. The players feel rested and ready to get back to competing,” stated Demko. “Alabama A&M had some tough opponents this year so they know what it's like to battle for 90 minutes. We will need to be organized and focused, attention to detail is important in order for us to give ourselves an opportunity for success."
This is the final non-conference match of the regular season for the Blue & White. Asheville begins Big South Conference play at Greenwood Field this Wednesday afternoon when the Bulldogs host Campbell at 5 p.m.
Amanda Dailor leads Asheville in scoring this year with three goals and seven points. Freshman Caroline Houser has two goals and two assists for six points.
Senior goalkeeper Heather Muller has done a solid job for the Bulldogs and has a 1.22 goals against average.
