Volleyball Falls in Four Sets to Charleston Southern

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – Charleston Southern won at Justice Center for the first time in 20 years as the Lady Bucs downed UNC Asheville 3-1 in Big South Conference volleyball action Friday night. CSU won 26-24, 23-25, 27-25, 25-21.
The Lady Bucs (10-17, 1-7 BSC) used big rallies in the first and third sets to power the visitors to the victory. Asheville (5-18, 1-6 BSC) led by seven points in each set and was serving for the set each time only to see CSU rally for the win.
Catherine Fischer enjoyed a sensational match for the Bulldogs as she produced a career-high 22 kills. Madison Vaughn added 10 kills and five blocks. Bryn Pfieffer had a game-high 20 digs. Setter Katie Davis registered 51 assists.
CSU was led by Meredith Parrott with 20 kills in 28 swings. Katrina Houston added 16 kills and 16 digs. Parrott also had six blocks. Setter Cassidy Green contributed 55 assists. Libero Ashley Higginbothem had a team-high 18 digs.
UNC Asheville is home again on Saturday afternoon when the Bulldogs host Coastal Carolina in its annual “Think Pink” match starting at 2 p.m.
