Winthrop Slips Past Men's Tennis 4-3

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Winthrop won the doubles point and picked up three singles victories to slip past UNC Asheville 4-3 in Big South Conference men's tennis action Sunday afternoon.
It was the second straight 4-3 defeat the Bulldogs (9-8, 2-5) suffered this week as Asheville lost at PC on Wednesday, 4-3.
Three of the Bulldogs league losses have been by 4-3 scores, while the other two have been by 5-2 tallies.
Asheville got a win in doubles at #2 flight when John Schubel and Daniel Kripak defeated Steven Patrick and Yuta Hirokawa, 8-6.
The Bulldogs were able to get a singles win from Adrien Langeard at #1 singles. He routed Dylan Comerford, 6-2, 6-4. Kripak slipped past Hirokawa, 6-4, 6-4 at #3 flight.
Brett Landau won a thriller in three sets at #6 flight. He downed Steven Patrick, 7-6, 2-6, 11-9.
Asheville is back in action on Monday when the Bulldogs travel to Gardner-Webb for a league match starting at 2 p.m.
