CHARLESTON, S.C. - The UNC Asheville men's and women's soccer programs had two incoming signees play on Saturday in the Clash of the Carolinas which features the best prep soccer players in North and South Carolina. The game took place at Blackbaud Stadium Saturday afternoon in 105 degree weather. Both Bulldog newcomers played key roles in the North Carolina sweep of the Sandlappers.

The North Carolina girls defeated South Carolina 2-1. North Carolina was clinging to a 1-0 lead late in the contest when future Bulldog and former Reynolds HS standout Shenny Lenhart made a perfect pass to Hannah Robinson of W.A Hough HS. Robinson scored to give the North Carolina squad a 2-0 lead in the 78th minute. South Carolina would score in the final minute to cut the margin to 2-1.

The boys' game was scoreless in the 33rd minute when South Carolina was called for a foul in the box. Future Bulldog and former T.C. Roberson star Trey Hemphill was selected to shoot the penalty kick. Hemphill buried the kick into the back of the net to give North Carolina a 1-0 lead.

That would prove to be the only goal of the game and would allow North Carolina to win the Clash of the Carolinas for the second straight year.
