Winthrop Downs UNC Asheville Women's Tennis

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - Defending Big South Conference champion Winthrop downed an injury-riddled UNC Asheville women's tennis team on Sunday as the Lady Eagles defeated the Bulldogs 7-0 at the Asheville Racquet Club.
The Bulldogs (5-9, 0-2 BSC) battled hard in doubles but fell in three close matches. In singles matches, Winthrop won all six singles matches in straight sets.
Asheville played the match without its #1 player Zoe Hamel who was out with an injury.
"We battled today but Winthrop has a great team and they played like that this afternoon," commented Asheville coach Lise Gregory.
