Knapp Named Big South Player of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - UNC Asheville forward Amanda Knapp (Youngsville, N.C.) has been selected as the Big South Conference Choice Hotels Women's Soccer Attacking Player of the Week, for games played Sept. 12-18, the League announced today.
Knapp kicked in three goals and tallied two assists for eight points as the Bulldogs went 1-1 last week. She scored a career-best two goals and registered two assists in the 5-1 victory over South Carolina State on Sept. 18. After SCSU tied the game in the 33rd minute, Knapp scored the game-winner just six minutes later on a long pass from Mary Kate Tucker. Two days earlier, Knapp netted her first goal of the season against Georgia State with a header from six yards out in the 33rd minute.
The sophomore forward is Asheville's leading scorer with three goals, three assists for nine points. The Bulldogs play next Sunday afternoon at ETSU starting at 1 p.m.
