ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville women's soccer team goes for its first victory on Friday at home when the Bulldogs host Eastern Kentucky at Greenwood Field starting at 4:30 p.m. The match will be video-streamed and can be seen for a small fee at www.uncabulldogs.com.

Asheville is 0-2 on the young season after dropping a 4-1 decision at home to Tennessee Tech Sunday afternoon. The Bulldogs did get better in that match as the game went on. Asheville trailed 3-0 at halftime but outplayed the Golden Eagles in the second half. Kaitlyn Eckerd scored her first career goal in the match. Asheville came close to scoring several times in the second half, while keeping TTU off the scoreboard for the final 40 minutes of the match.

Eastern Kentucky will enter Friday's game with a 1-3 record. The Colonels are coming off a thrilling 2-1 overtime victory over Miami (Ohio) last Sunday at home.

After Friday's games, the Bulldogs hit the road for their next three matches. Asheville will play three straight Southern Conference teams away from home. Michelle Demko's squad travels to Wofford on Sunday, Western Carolina (Sept. 9) and Appalachian State (Sept. 11). The Bulldogs next home match will be with Georgia State on Sept. 16 at 4 p.m.
