The five are forward Amanda Dailor from Castiac, Calif., forward Kaitlyn Eckert from Knightdale, N.C., defender Margo Flewelling from Chapel Hill, N.C., midfielder Megan Foster from Gainesville, Fla., and goalkeeper Heather Muller from Cary, N.C.
"The incoming class this fall will be a great compliment to our returning players," stated Demko. "I am excited for all these players to come to UNC Asheville and put their mark on the soccer program. We add an enormous amount of technical ability that will allow us to be even more dangerous getting forward and generating an attack. Heather is an excellent GK and will provide a strong anchor in the back. I look forward to having everyone together and preparing for the fall."
Dailor played at West Ranch HS in California. She played her club soccer for the Camarillo Eagles. In high school, Dailor was named Rookie of the Year as a freshman and named MVP on offense her freshman, sophomore and junior years. She helped lead her club team to a Far West Regional championship.
"Amanda is an extremely technical player who will see time as a forward or as a midfielder," commented Demko. "She has a "go-to-goal" mentality and will lend a huge attacking presence on the field to our returning players. Amanda is the type of player that will also make others better around her, as well."
Flewelling played at Chapel Hill HS in Chapel Hill. She earned All-Conference honors as a junior and senior. Flewelling was selected to play in the North Carolina East-West All-Star Game in Greensboro last Tuesday. She scored the East's lone goal in the match that ended in a 1-1 tie. Flewelling played club soccer for Triangle United."
"Margo is a great addition to our defense," declared Demko. "She will initiate a lot of our attacks form the back. Margo has good tactical knowledge of the game so I look for her to come in and learn of system pretty quickly and be comfortable in the back line."
Foster enjoyed a standout prep career at Gainesville HS. She was the region's leading scorer with 29 goals as a senior and earned All-Conference and All Area honors. Foster played club soccer for Gainesville Soccer Alliance.
"Megan is truly a versatile player and will find herself in any number of positions for our program," said Demko. "She has a good tactical understanding of the game which will help her be an immediate impact on the field. Megan has a great attacking mentality, gets forward well on the field and is dangerous on the ball. I anticipate a lot of our attack will be initiated through Megan."
Muller played at Apex HS in Cary. She was an All-Conference performer as a senior and posted seven shutouts as Apex finished with a 15-3-1 overall record. Muller was named as the team's MVP as a junior and senior and played in the East-West All-Star Game this past Tuesday in Greensboro. She played her club soccer for Liberty Football Club.
"Heather will take the field as a freshmen starting goalkeeper," stated Demko. "She is athletic, has a fighting competitive mentality, organizes her backline well and a good overall shot stopper. Heather is expected to take charge of the defense and possess the abilities to do so as a freshman."
Eckert joined the Bulldog program in January after graduating early from Knightdale HS. She completed a three-year prep career in 2010 as one of the state's top scorers. Eckert scored 105 goals in her career and in her junior year, she scored an amazing 63 goals with 32 assists. The scoring outburst was the eighth highest in state history. Eckert earned All-State, All-Region and All-Conference honors her junior year. She played club soccer for Capitol Area Soccer League.
"Although Kailtyn will be new to the roster this fall, she graduated early and has been with our team since last January," commented Demko. "She has proven to be an exceptionally technical player in tight spaces with great vision for her teammates. Kaitlyn has a fantastic ability to create space for herself and get a shot off in the final third of the field. She had a sensational spring season, and I anticipate her growing even more this fall season."
