Bulldog Baseball Travels to Davidson Tonight

04.06.2011 | Baseball

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville baseball team will take on Davidson Wednesday night on the road starting at 6 p.m. This is a make-up game as the teams were scheduled to play on March 15 but that contest was rained out.

The Bulldogs (10-17, 4-5 BSC) are coming off a series loss at Charleston Southern this past weekend. Asheville won the first game 9-2 and then dropped 6-0 and 7-5 decisions to the Buccaneers.

"We just have to play a little bit better," stated Bulldog coach Tom Smith. "Our guys battled hard and were a play or two from winning Sunday's game but just didn't get it down. When we have a chance to win, we've got to find a way to make a pitch, make a play in the field or get a hit."

Asheville will face a Davidson squad that is 13-15 on year but 6-5 in the Southern Conference.  The teams played last year with the Wildcats winning a 7-6 decision at Wilson Field.

The game with Davidson is the only mid-week game for the Bulldogs. Asheville is back on the road this weekend when the Bulldogs travel to Big South-leading Winthrop (April 8-10).

Senior left-hander David Ricker (1-1, 10.67 ERA) is scheduled to start on Wednesday night.
