Bulldogs Open Big South Play With Gardner-Webb

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – Coming off a 6-2 win over region rival Western Carolina on Wednesday evening the UNC Asheville baseball team will begin Big South Conference play on Friday when the Bulldogs travel to Boiling Springs, N.C., to take on the Gardner-Webb Runnin' Bulldogs in the three-game series.
The win over the Catamounts snapped a 10-game losing skid for Asheville, which opened the season with four consecutive victories. The Bulldogs are currently 5-10 on the year with a 2-9 mark on the road. Jordan Lurie currently leads the Blue & White offensively with a .333 batting average while Mike Vaughn leads the team in RBI with 11.
Gardner-Webb is currently 12-3 on the year with a 7-2 mark at home. Dusty Quattlebaum leads the team with a batting average of .469 and a slugging percentage of .735. He is currently the reigning Big South Player of the Week for his efforts against Holy Cross and St. John's.
First pitch is set for 6 p.m. at John Henry Moss Stadium / Bill Masters Field.
