Men's Tennis Triumph in Opener Over Augusta, 6-1

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville men's tennis team opened the 2011 season with an impressive 6-1 victory over Augusta State College Friday afternoon at the Crowne Plaza Tennis Center.
The Bulldogs (1-0) lost the doubles points but dominated the singles matches. Asheville got straight sets wins from all six of its singles players en route to the season-opening victory over the Jaguars (1-1).
"I'm very pleased with our victory to open the season," commented Bulldog coach Lise Gregory. "Our guys have worked hard on their concentration at key points during a match and today it showed."
Asheville hosts UNC Greensboro Saturday afternoon at the Crowne Plaza starting at 3 p.m. Admission is free.
