Men's Tennis Edged by UNC Greensboro, 4-3

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - UNC Asheville captured the doubles point and won two singles matches but UNC Greensboro managed to win four singles matches as the Spartans edged the Bulldogs, 4-3 in men's tennis action at the Crowne Plaza Tennis Center Saturday afternoon.
The Bulldogs (1-1) were routed by UNC Greensboro last year but Asheville gave the Spartans all they wanted on the day. Asheville easily won the doubles point as all three doubles team won handily.
In singles action, Adrien Langeard won at #2 in three sets over Timion Meijis in three sets, 6-4, 6-7, 6-3. Matt Waissen won in straight sets at #3 flight as he defeated Yaroslav Litus, 6-3, 6-3.
"We competed quite well today against a very good UNC Greensboro team that beat us pretty easily 12 months ago," commented assistant coach Tom Hand. "We believe we're much improved from last season. However, we're not interested in coming close, we want to find a way to win these matches. Our guys gave great effort and we'll learn from this and make us better."
The Bulldogs are on the road next Saturday when they play at Alabama-Birmingham.
