Bulldogs Post Solid Results in Chapel Hill

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The UNC Asheville men's and women's Indoor Track and Field teams competed at the Dick Taylor Invitational in Chapel Hill on Saturday and posted impressive results on the day.
"This was our best meet of the season as we really competed against some great competition," stated Bulldog coach Jesse Norman. "We had a lot of people setting personal bests and enjoying a solid meet. Hopefully, we can keep the momentum up in two weeks at the Big South Conference meet."
Both Bulldog teams had plenty of highlights throughout the day on Saturday. Sprinter Sarah Gentry took third in the 400 meters with a time of 1:00.13. She also competed in the 200 meters and posted a time of 27.37.
Sophomore Melanie Kulesz finished fourth in the one mile run at a time of 5:06, while Emma Bussard was right behind her in fifth place with a time of 5:09. Kylie Smith took 10th in the mile at 5:18.
Clair Powell had a solid day with a seventh place finish in the 3000 meters as she posted a time of 10:46. Rachel Carson took eighth in the 600 meters at 1:46. In the 800 meters, Alyska Kalmeijer finished eighth at 2:22.
On the men's side, freshman sprinter Milan Ristic continued his great rookie season. He took third in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.34. Ristic finished seventh in the 60 meters at a time of 7.12.
In the mile, Carlos Lopez finished 10th at 4:27, while Sam Maynard took 16th at 4:33. Nick Summers took ninth in the 800 meters at 2:02.
Simon Haake competed in the both the shot put and weight throw. He took eighth in the shot put (13.87 meters) and 10th in the weight throw (14.38 meters).
Courtney Henry finished 10th in the 200 meters at 23.28. Stuart Johnson came in 14th in the 400 meters at 53.91. He took 16th with a time of 23.28 in the 200 meters.
UNC Asheville takes next weekend off as it prepares for the Big South Conference meet at Clemson (Feb. 24-25).
