The Bulldogs fell to 3-10-0 on the season and 2-2-0 in league play. Campbell won its fifth straight match to improve to 9-3-0 and stayed perfect in the conference with a 3-0-0 worksheet.
The home team opened the scoring in the eighth minute of play when Ashley Clark scored a goal on a fast-break opportunity for a 1-0 Camel lead.
Eckert scored in the 24th minute when the freshman forward fired a shot from well outside the box that found the back of the net to tie the match at 1-1.
Pirjo Leppikangas scored the game-winner in the 38th minute off a pass from Clark as Campbell led 2-1 at intermission.
Campbell out-shot Asheville 21-10 for the match. Freshman goalkeeper Heather Muller made five saves for the Bulldogs.
Asheville is off for the next week and will be at Greenwood Field for its next two matches. The Bulldogs host league foe Coastal Carolina next Thursday (Oct. 13) at 3 p.m. and Charleston Southern on Saturday, Oct. 15.
