Women's Soccer Falls at Winthrop, 3-1

The Bulldogs (4-13, 3-5 BSC) opened the scoring in the 30th minute when Ferriss Roberts scored for the third consecutive games. She followed up a rebound and scored from 18 yards out to put Asheville in front, 1-0 at 30:44.
But 16 seconds later, Winthrop tied the match at 1-1. Krystyna Freda scored her 11th goal of the year by hitting a shot from 18 yards at 31:00.
The match was tied 1-1 at intermission before the Eagles scored twice in the second half to get just their second win over Asheville at home.
Winthrop scored the game-winner in the 49th minute when Courtney Durbin scored on a header off a feed from Freda to push the lead to 2-1.
The Eagles sealed the win late in the match with a goal at 87:33. Rachel Webster scored on a shot from 16 yards to give the home team a 3-1 lead.
Winthrop had a slight edge in shots, 16-13. The Eagles had five corner kicks to three for Asheville.
Kaitlyn Eckert led the Bulldogs with five shots, while Amanda Dailor and Roberts had three each.
Asheville will finish the regular season with two matches at home this week. The Bulldogs host High Point Thursday afternoon at 3 p.m., followed by a match with Liberty Saturday at Noon.
