CULLOWHEE, N.C. – Kelsey Benorden, Rachel Guinane and Cindi Miller were each named to the All-Tournament team at the 2010 Western Carolina Invitational as the UNC Asheville volleyball team defeated North Carolina A&T and host Western Carolina to win the tournament crown on Saturday at the Ramsey Center.
With the two victories the Bulldogs even their season record at 6-6 heading into Big South Conference play. Asheville will welcome conference foe Gardner-Webb to the Justice Center on Tuesday evening, the first home match of the season for the Dogs.
“It was nice to win the tournament, playing six solid sets,” said Asheville head coach Julie Torbett. “We lost our focus a little bit in one set but we're excited to get two wins heading into conference play.”
In their first match of the day Asheville dominated the Aggies of NC A&T, winning 3-0 with victories of 25-6, 25-13, 25-9. Miller recorded 10 kills from her outside hitter position, posting an impressive .533 hitting percentage in the three-set match.

Asheville won the first set 25-17 before dropping the second set 22-25. The Bulldogs would win the next two frames 25-17 and 25-19 to clinch the match and the tournament.
Miller posted 14 kills with Benorden adding 13, as both players tallied an impressive 20 digs apiece. Not to be outdone by her two outside hitters, libero Alex Stewart also added 20 digs to the Bulldogs' total. Guinane recorded 38 more assists to her total for the day, chipping in two service aces.
