ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville women's soccer team is back on the road Wednesday night when the Bulldogs travel to Furman University Wednesday night at 7 p.m.  Bulldog fans can follow the match or watch the match at http://www.furmanpaladins.com/livestats/landing.

The Bulldogs (0-5-0) came very close to picking up their first victory of the season on Sunday when they dropped a 3-2 home decision to Wofford. Asheville rallied from an early 1-0 deficit to grab a 2-1 lead in the second half, but the Terriers picked up two goals with less than 20 minutes remaining to earn the victory.

The Bulldogs offense really came alive against Wofford as Chole McCleary-Small and Leilani Halkiotis each scored in the match. Asheville kept putting constant pressure on the Wofford goal and almost had a few more goals.

First-year coach Michelle Demko's team will have their hands full against a tough Furman squad. The Paladins are 4-3-0 on the year and are among the top teams in the Southern Conference.

Furman leads the all-time series 4-2 and won a hard-fought 2-1 decision at Greenwood Field last season. McCleary-Small scored for Asheville in last year's tilt.

The Paladins have won the last four meetings in the series. Asheville's last win was in 1995 when the Bulldogs recorded a 5-0 win. In that game, Kristi Cummings scored five seconds into the match which was a NCAA record for the fastest goal until three years ago.

Asheville comes back home on Sunday to entertain Francis Marion at Greenwood Field starting at 2 p.m.
