ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville women's soccer team is back at home Sunday afternoon when the Bulldogs host Wofford College from the Southern Conference at Greenwood Field starting at 2 p.m.
The match will be video-streamed and can be seen for a small fee at www.uncabulldogs.com. Fans are asked to click on the multimedia tab on the website.
The Bulldogs (0-4-0) are looking for their first win of the season but they'll be tested by a solid Terrier (3-2-0) club. Wofford has won three of its last four matches, including a 1-0 victory over USC Upstate earlier in the week. The Terriers dominated the match as they fired 33 shots on goal. Only a great performance from USC Upstate's goalkeeper kept the match close.
Asheville played last on the road at Elon Thursday night and fell 3-0. The Phoenix exploded for three goals in a 10-minute stretch in the first half and after that the Bulldogs shut Elon down. Asheville goalkeeper Megan Dent made six saves in the match.
Asheville is 5-2-1 all-time against Wofford and won last year's meeting, 1-0 behind a goal from McKenna Stockhausen. This is the first time the teams have played at Greenwood Field since the 2001 season.
