Men's Tennis Falls to Winthrop, 6-1

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville men's tennis team won the doubles point but Winthrop won six singles matches to post a 6-1 victory over the Bulldogs in Big South Conference action at the Crowne Plaza Tennis Center Saturday afternoon.
Asheville (4-10, 0-3 BSC) won two doubles matches to get the point. The #1 team of Jonas Brobeck and Matt Waissen knocked off Winthrop's team of Sergey Belov and Daniel Daudt, 8-5. The #3 flight of Adrien Langeard and Thomas Rees won the point when they edged the Eagles team of Dejan Bivens and Preethan Morris, 9-8.
The Bulldogs battled hard in singles but lost two matches in three sets and just couldn't break through against an experienced Winthrop team.
Asheville plays next at Georgia State at 3 p.m.
