Women's Tennis Downs Radford, 5-2

RADFORD, VA. - The UNC Asheville women's tennis team won their 14th match of the year with a 5-2 road victory at Radford Saturday morning.

The Bulldogs (14-6, 4-3 BSC) won the doubles point and then claimed four singles matches to win their 12th match in the last 16 matches. Asheville plays next in the quarterfinals of the Big South Conference Tournament on Thursday at Radford.

The Bulldogs won the doubles point as their top two teams won. At #1 flight, Leslie Smith and Stephanie Schon won their match 8-5. At #2 flight, Devon Cavanaugh and Louise Bottomley won their match, 8-3.

In singles action, junior Nicole Schon won a three-set thriller at #4 flight. She defeated Mirna Matic, 6-2, 2-6, 11-9. Asheville also posted singles wins from Devon Cavanaugh at #2, Britney Cloer at #4 and Bottomley at #6.
