Nathan White Goes Unbeaten to Highlight Play for Men's Tennis at UNCG

Men's Tennis Loses at Appalachian State, 6-1

BOONE, N.C. -  Appalachian State won a close doubles point and then won several close singles matches to post a 6-1 victory over visiting UNC Asheville Wednesday afternoon at the ASU Tennis Center.

The Bulldogs earned their lone point when Nicolai Nonnenbroich won at #1. He defeated ASU's Trent Constance in a tie-break. Nonnenbroich won the match, 6-0, 0-6, 7-6.

Asheville's number one doubles team of Matt Waissen and Jonas Brobeck earned a win as they downed the ASU duo of Peter Jacobs and Trent Constance, 8-3. Nathan White and Nicolai Nonnenbroich just missed winning at the second flight as they fell, 9-7 to Alain Humbelt and Phillip Klock. The Mountaineers earned the doubles point when Andrew McKinnon and Ezekiel Sansing beat Thomas Rees and Alex Applet at the #3 doubles, 8-3.

In singles play, Nonnenbroich and Ryan Matthews won the first set in their matches but couldn't finish their matches off as ASU improved to 7-2 on the season. The Bulldogs fell to 3-7 on the year.

Asheville plays again at home at the Crowne Plaza Tennis Center on Friday when the Bulldogs entertain Campbell starting at 1 p.m.
