Campbell Sweeps Twinbill Over Bulldogs

BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Campbell swept a double-header over UNC Asheville Saturday afternoon at Taylor Field. The Fighting Camels edged the Bulldogs 5-4 in the first game and then roared past Asheville 11-2 in the nightcap.
In the first game, Austin Graham hit a three-run homer in the sixth inning to rally the Bulldogs to a 4-3 lead.
However, Campbell tied the game in the bottom of the sixth to knot the game at 4-4. In the Campbell eighth, a sacrifice fly from Chaz Sessoms put the Camels in front for good at 5-4.
Sophomore Cody Buch hit his first home run of the season in the second to tie the game at 1-1.
Freshman Robbie McIntosh and Buch paced the Asheville hitting attack with two hits each.
In the second game, Campbell pitching limited the Bulldogs to just five hits. The home team got two hits and three RBI from Zach Johnson plus strong pitching from starter Logan Davis who limited Asheville to just three hits over six innings.
Catlin Carter had two hits for the Bulldogs in the second game. Asheville broke up the shutout with two unearned runs in top of the ninth. Freshman Leon Stimpson drove in one run with a RBI-groundout. Another run scored on an error.
The Bulldogs play next on Friday (Feb. 26) when they begin a three-game series at College of Charleston starting at 5 p.m.
