Women's Soccer Falls at Liberty, 6-3

Asheville midfielder Leilani Halkiotis scored two goals in the match and helped the Bulldogs recover from a 2-0 and 3-2 deficit to forge a 3-3 tie at halftime.
However, the home team got a goal from Aimee Luurtsema in the 56th minute and then added two goals in the final eight minutes to earn the victory. Luurtsema would tie a Liberty school record with four goals in the match.
The Flames jumped ahead early at 7:40 when Luurtsema scored her first goal of the match for an early 1-0 lead. Madison Short would follow at 20:21 when she tapped in a cross to push the LU margin to 2-0.
Then Halkiotis took over. The junior tallied her third goal of the season when she connected on a shot from 25 yards out at the 23:19 mark to narrow the lead to 2-1.
Halkiotis tied the match up at 2-2 at 33:44 when she scored off a feed from Amanda Knapp.
Luurtsema tallied her second goal of the afternoon on a pass from Maria Owen to give the Flames a 3-2 lead at 35:24.
Asheville would quickly counter as Knapp scored her second goal of the season at 41:13. Dana Sroka and Kristen Lawson were awarded assists on the play that knotted the match at 3-3.
The Flames would control play in the second half as they out-shot the Bulldogs, 13-2. Bulldog goalkeeper Megan Dent made 11 saves in the game for Asheville.
The Bulldogs will finish the 2010 season with a match at High Point Friday night at 7 p.m.
