10.29.2010 | Women's Soccer
HPU got a goal from Jillie Johnston at 97:13 to finally win the match. Johnston scored on a header off a pass from Kelli Jolene.
The Bulldogs had stunned the home team on Senior Night when freshman Amanda Knapp scored at 7:54 to give Asheville an early 1-0 lead. It was her third goal of the season as she scored the unassisted goal when she beat the High Point keeper off the line.
The Panthers knotted the match at 14:55 when Joline scored on a blast from 16 yards out to make it 1-1.
And that's where is stayed for the rest of regulation. Asheville goalkeeper Megan Dent was magnificent as she constantly stopped HPU scoring threats. The Panther fired 22 shots on goal with Dent making seven saves.
Leilani Halkiotis and Knapp took eight of the Bulldogs 10 shots on the night. Halkiotis just missed winning the match in first few minutes of the overtime period.
