The Bulldogs (5-12, 1-4 BSC) were led by Lindsey Montgomery's sixth double-double of the season. The junior forward tallied 17 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. Kendall Shepard and Lindsey Thompson finished with eight points each for Asheville. Freshman guard Breaira Barksdale scored a season-high eight points.
The game was tied 39-39 midway through the second half when the Highlanders (4-11, 3-1 BSC) went on an 11-1 run to race to a 50-40 lead with eight minutes remaining. Wood had two treys during the run as the Bulldogs went 0-of-7 from the field.
Asheville simply could get no closer than eight the rest of the way as each team spent the rest of the game exchanging baskets. Radford was 8-of-9 from the charity stripe in the final five minutes.
The first half had Asheville go on a 6-0 run thanks to two straight three-pointers from Shepard to grab a 15-11 lead at the 10:56 mark. The Bulldogs maintained the lead most of the half before a bucket from Victoria Hamilton put the Highlanders in front 30-29 at halftime.
Asheville struggled with its shooting on the day. The Bulldogs shot just 30 percent (18-of-60) from the field and 22 percent (7-of-31) in the second half.
Betsy's Blose's team won the rebounding battle with a 41-35 advantage.
