Big South-Leading Liberty Too Much for Bulldogs, 82-40

The Bulldogs (5-13, 1-5 BSC) lost for the fifth straight time. Lindsey Montgomery led Asheville with 10 points and eight rebounds.
Liberty (12-4, 3-1 BSC) was led by Kylee Beecher and Amber Mayes with 14 points each.
It was another tough night on offense for Asheville. The Bulldogs shot just 28 percent (14-of-51) from the field and turned it over 25 times.
Kendall Shepard contributed nine points and five assists for Asheville.
The Bulldogs hung in the game for part of the first half. Asheville was within 24-15 with 7:35 to go in the opening half before the Flames outscored the visitors, 17-4 to race to a 41-17 lead at halftime.
The Bulldogs shot 25 percent (7-of-28) from the field in the first half and committed 13 turnovers that led to 17 Liberty points.
In the second half, it was all Liberty as the Flames led by as much as 46 before settling for the 42-point win.
A much taller Liberty team dominated the backboards on the night as it out-rebounded Asheville 49-27. It was just the second time in the last eight games that the Bulldogs have been out-rebounded. The Flames outscored Asheville in the paint 38-12.
Liberty was red-hot from the three-point line. The Flames were 9-of-17 from beyond the arc for 53 percent.
The Bulldogs will be back home this Friday night when they host North Carolina Central at Justice Center Friday night starting at 7 p.m.
