SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Senior McKenna Stockhausen scored the game's only goal in the 18th minute as UNC Asheville edged Wofford 1-0 in a college women's soccer match at Snyder Field Thursday evening.

The win by the Bulldogs (1-1) was their first of the season, while the Terriers remained winless at 0-3-0.

Asheville out-shot Wofford 14-10. Stockhausen had six shots in the match with four on goal.

Stockhausen took a pass from Megan Bradham in the 18th minute and then hit a shot from 15 yards out for her first goal of the season.

The shutout was shared by two Bulldog goalkeepers. Freshman Megan Dent worked the first half, while senior Veronica Lazar played in the second half. Lazar made four saves in the second half to keep the Terriers off the scoreboard.

"This is a good win for us," commented UNC Asheville coach Michele Cornish. "McKenna scored a great goal. We did a nice job holding on and getting a road victory. There's still room for improvement but tonight was a start."

Asheville plays next on Sunday when the Bulldogs travel to East Tennessee State for a 2 p.m. start.
