JOHNSON CITY, TENN. - Freshman Chloe McCleary-Small scored her first career goal to lead UNC Asheville to a 1-0 non-conference victory over homestanding East Tennessee State Sunday afternoon.

The win was the Bulldogs (2-1-0) second straight and the victory came over an ETSU team that had just beaten defending Big South champion Radford on the road Friday. The Lady Bucs dropped to 1-2-0 on the season.

Asheville posted its second straight shutout in the win. Megan Dent and Veronica Lazar shared the shutout. Dent played the first half, while Lazar earned the win in the second half. The senior goalkeeper stopped four shots and faced 12 shots in the period.

McCleary-Small scored her first goal at 57:24. The former Asheville HS native scored the goal unassisted to give the Bulldogs the lead for good at 1-0.

ETSU controlled play in the final 20 minutes as it fired 10 shots on goal but Lazar was able to make four saves and keep the Bucs off the scoreboard.

Asheville hosts Southern Conference foe Furman at Greenwood Field Wednesday at 4 p.m.
