Women' s Soccer Begins Practice

The Bulldogs are looking to improve on last year's frustrating 5-13-1 campaign. Asheville lost seven one-goal matches in 2008.
"We need to be more consistent this season," declared Bulldog head coach Michele Cornish. "We played well at times last year but simply weren't consistent enough to win most of our close matches."
Cornish believe this year's Asheville squad with seven seniors has a good chance to improve on last year's results.
"I really like our senior class," explained Cornish. "They were freshmen in 2006 when we went to the NCAA Tournament. Our senior class in 2006 was a strong one and I'm sure that class influenced this class on leadership and determination."
Cornish is excited about the start of another season.
"We're ready to go," stated Cornish. "Our team has come back in good shape and ready to get started."
The Bulldogs open the season at home on Aug. 28 when ACC foe Clemson comes to Greenwood Field for the first time ever.
"We're very pleased to be opening the season with Clemson at our place," commented Cornish. "It should be a great day for soccer in Asheville."
